In Entropia, your account can only hold a single character. However, since there are no set classes or anything else that locks you into a specific path, this is not a problem.

Instead of classes, the system is based on Professions, which in turn is based on Skills. Skills are more specific. The skill Aim, for example, affects your ability to hit a target with ranged weapons. This skill is included in, for example, the profession BLP Pistoleer (Hit), which determines your effectiveness and accuracy with pistols of the type BLP. There is also the Laser Pistoleer (Hit), which has the same function, but for pistols of the type Laser.

Many items have profession recommendations, where a certain level is recommended to use the item effectively. Not using an item effectively may impact the loot negatively. For example, a weapon may have the profession recommendation of level 35 in BLP Pistoleer (Hit) and BLP Pistoleer (Dmg). If you are not level 35, you will not be able to use the wepon effectively, which means you will, for example, deal less damage while using the same amount of ammunition.

Reaching a certain level in a profession may also unlock new skills, which will help you further when leveling up the professions.

There is a total of 165 skills and 92 professions. You can check the Skills and Profession pages on entropiawiki for more information.

As a newcomer, you don't have to worry too much about skills and professions, but once it is time to look for new weapons and gear, it is nice to know the basics at least.
